Other Commands

  • :w writes the current file to disk
  • :wq writes changes and quit
  • :w! forces overwrite of file
  • :m,nw file writes lines m through n of the current buffer to file
  • :w file writes the current buffer to file
  • :r file reads in the contents of file after the current cursor location
  • :! cmd executes the shell command, cmd
  • :q quits if no changes are made
  • :q! quits without saving changes
